National Book Festival to be Held in Washington, D.C., Sept. 30
If you’re wild about books, Washington, D.C., will soon be the place to be.

The 2006 National Book Festival, sponsored by the Library of Congress and hosted by First Lady Laura Bush, is setting up shop on Saturday, September 30, at the National Mall, where more than 70 well-known writers, illustrators, and poets will discuss their works. The festival, which is free and open to the public, will be held (rain or shine) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between 7th and 14th streets.

Between storms and the accompanying blackouts and all the travel I am doing this summer, I haven’t had time to turn around much less work on art “for fun”. My submission this week is a pencil rough from a page that never made it into my children’s book, An Ordinary Girl, A Magical Child. The main character is seen holding a feather duster as she helps prepare the house for company and a home blessing.
