The weather was perfect this past Sunday for the Life sketching long session for August 16, 2016. Although the rain was torrential, the temperature was in a comfortable low 70s for the entire day. Nearly unheard of for early August in Missouri. I was very pleased.
Even more pleasing was the absolutely stunning woman we had for a model. With bonus points — she was gently pregnant. I spent the first two and half of the 3rd sitting of the Life sketching long session for August 16, 2016 on her face and queenly posed neck.

I then moved on to the rest of her. Sadly, I made the head too large to fit the entire pose on my paper, but only the feet and a hand got cut off, so it wasn’t too bad.
The hand that I was able to sketch was in a very challenging foreshortened position. I spent the remaining 2 sittings of Life sketching long session for August 16, 2016 on her right hand.
I think the final hand and the rest of the sketch captured the model’s essence quite well. She seemed to agree because she asked if she could take a picture of it and was quite complimentary. In fact, she said she was going to cry because all of draftings were so beautiful. She blamed it on the pregnancy hormones. 😉
An update on new book news
I have a long list of to-do’s for this upcoming week. I’m doing my best to clear my studio of all projects before the big push for the upcoming coloring book’s art with Llewellyn hits my desk. I’m awaiting their final revisions and approval on the text. The coloring book is more like a guided activity book, with the coloring pages being part of the activity. Natalie Zaman, the author of Animal Totem Mandala Coloring Book is also the author for the new book. I’ve seen the rough draft of her words and they are AMAZING. I can’t wait to get started with the art. I have 65 images to get done ASAP. That is as soon as I get the go-ahead. Publishing has got to be the SLOWEST industry in existence.
