1 hour study water for today. Practicing with new Photoshop brushes. Doing my best to learn how to portray various textures in a realistic manner. This stuff is hard.

I’ve been setting a time limit of an hour with these studies. Because of that and my unfamiliarity with digital painting, combined with the years I spent pursuing a simplified style for children’s book, these images look very unfinished.

I’m not going to let myself give up in frustration, but wanting to be at a higher level of competence than what I’m producing in these studies is giving my ego a good beating.

Of course, the only way to get better is to just do the studies. A lot. Over and over.
