Daily Doodle Dec 4

I’ve been filing paperwork today. Nearly all of it is drawers. Again. When I get all the piles put away and the studio has acres of open tabletop space I always promise myself I will file papers as they come in. Invariably, I get a whole mess of things all at once and am in the midst of creative genius and don’t want to stop what I am doing to file stuff. Stuff I need to or think I need to keep, which has little or nothing to do with what I am working on at the moment, and I don’t want the distraction or interruption. So the piles begin to grow again. Until I can no longer stand the avalanche potential and file it all away again.

It makes me wonder how other creatives deal with the business side of being an illustrator. The filing, the billing, the promotion and eek, a little bit of dusting or vacuuming every once in a while to chase the dust bunnies away. So fellow creatives — what’s your solution to keeping the clutter bug to a minimum?
