It’s Martin Luther King Day. My husband is home from work, the schools, banks and post office are closed.
I considered doing a MLK coloring page, but so many already exist, I wasn’t sure I should.
On days like this I wax philosophical. I remember when I was young, how exciting Civil Rights were, something so bright and shiny. There was a certain amount of excitement that sometime soon people would be judged on an individual basis, not on their gender, skin color or ethnicity. Maybe I’m a cynical old lady, but it seems to me in the last decade or so, we’ve been moving backwards instead of forwards. Still, the fact today was also the Presidential Inauguration of Barrack Obama into a second term would make MLK and the others of his era proud. In the fifties and sixties the very idea of a dark-skinned person running for president, let alone winning, was unimaginable. Maybe it’s one step forward for every two back.

Who’s hiding in corners and watching in the dark? A trap is set and our hero receives a big surprise when the watchers are finally captured.
Something is watching Thomas as he’s sleeping. He decides that he will discover who is frightening him and hatches a plan to catch them in a trap. The story goes from spooky to secure when Thomas discovers who he has captured.
A bouncing bedtime tale your kids are sure to request again and again even after they know the secret.

How nice of you to provide such lovely coloring pages. I read to children from ages 3 to 10 every Saturday and always follow up with coloring and drawing. Do you mind if I copy 3 or 4 of one page for my young friends? I’m enjoying getting to know your work through your blog. And it’s a very generous blog — Thanks for all the great information for writers and readers. I look forward to reading The Watchers.
Thank you! I provide my coloring pages free of charge for non-commercial use. If your reading sessions are free, please share the pages. Keep all my information intact so the kids’ parents can go and get more coloring pages if they want to. Thanks for your support.
