What do you want to know?

In mid October (12-18) the free, online Muse Writers’ Conference will be taking place again. I have attended for the last two years and learned an awful lot of good things. This year I am teaching a class. (registration is closed.)

The class is for illustrators and will be about the hows of illustrating the picture book.

I am in the midst of writing up my handouts and lesson plans. There is an awful ot of information I want to include, and given that the conference is taking place during my busiest tour month of the year, I want to make sure the handouts cover everything.

The Muse conference is a week long, but because I will be on tour at a book signing/workshop at the weekend the Conference begins and also at one the end of the week of the Conference, and neither place has internet access (not even cell phone!) I will only be giving a 3-day class.

The handouts will go out to all class participants prior to the class. I will include the first lesson as one of the handouts. That way the students can do the lesson and post their assignments on Monday and I can look and make comments on them when I arrive from the book signing. Lesson two will be posted on Monday evening and Lesson three on Tuesday evening. I can comment and make suggestions on Tuesday and Wednesday. I leave for the other book signing on Thursday.

So, are there any questions out there that prospective children’s book illustrators would like the answers to? Or are there any suggestions on what you’d wished you’d known when you started from the more experienced children’s book illustrators? Thanks for playing!

I will post the answers to all questions at some future time on my blog — after I finish with my tour season in November! LOL
